Are you passionate about holding corporations accountable, protecting environmental justice, and amplifying voices from affected communities? The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) is offering a transformative 6-month internship at its Business, Human Rights, and Environment (BHRE) desk in Paris. Running from May to October 2026, this full-time role immerses you in global advocacy, research, and litigation—perfect for Master’s students eyeing a career in international human rights.

Who Is FIDH?

Founded in 1922, FIDH unites nearly 200 civil society organizations worldwide to defend fundamental freedoms and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Independent from governments, it excels in advocacy, investigations, and legal action, always weaving in gender-sensitive and anti-colonial perspectives. With its Paris headquarters and teams across Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Europe—plus delegations at the ICC in The Hague, EU in Brussels, UN in Geneva, and AU in Nairobi—FIDH drives real change.

The BHRE desk zeroes in on economic, social, and cultural rights. It pushes states and businesses to ensure exports, investments, mining projects, infrastructure, and surveillance tech don’t fuel abuses but uplift local populations. Through documentation, advocacy, and strategic lawsuits with member groups, FIDH fights for corporate accountability and victim justice.

Your Role: Dive into Impactful Work

As a trainee, you’ll jump into the BHRE desk’s core activities in a diverse, multilingual environment. Expect hands-on tasks like:

  • Conducting targeted research on corporate responsibility and accountability initiatives.

  • Drafting notes, press releases, and articles.

  • Proofreading, editing, and translating publications and internal documents.

  • Supporting fact-finding missions and advocacy efforts.

  • Helping organize online or in-person events, such as workshops with member organizations, experts, and decision-makers at national, regional, or UN levels.

  • Monitoring key developments and decisions in BHRE issues.

  • Updating FIDH’s website and communication tools.

  • Tackling various administrative tasks.

You’ll build strategic advocacy and legal skills while networking with diplomats, UN reps, and activists worldwide—a launchpad for your human rights career.
